Rosy is an almost-3 year old female American Eskimo ('Eskie') Dog.  She would be considered a miniature with biscuit cream markings.

"Eskies are social animals that can develop problem behaviors when neglected or undertrained—they insist on being part of family life. Among the most trainable of breeds, the clever, kid-friendly Eskie practically invented the phrase “eager to please.”

Unfortunately for Rosy - she was kept in less-than-favorable conditions in a breeding facility for her first few years.  As a result, she has developed anxiety and compulsive behaviors that have left her requiring daily medication.  She will need to continue this medication - which costs on average less than $30/month.

Rosy is a very intelligent girl, who is BEYOND eager to please her humans.  She's happiest when she is with her people, loving any sort of attention or affection shown to her.  She is an active girl who loves people, and could learn to do anything from Agility to being a Therapy dog - to just walking around the neighborhood with you and snuggling in front of the TV.   Rosy is not aggressive at all toward humans, and can get along very well with other friendly, easy going dogs, although she much prefers the companionship of humans over other animals.

Rosy has pretty much ignored the other critters in her foster home - cats and bunnies alike, and is quick to respond to a verbal cue.  She knows sit, doesn't like to down, and comes quickly when called outside.  She walks well on her leash, and although she is still slightly reluctant to get into a car - she rides very nicely once you put her in.  She is crate trained and housetrained--as long as you are diligent about getting her out.  She quickly learned to use the dog door at her foster home.   She is friendly to to a fault with women, a bit standoffish with men - but if they are kind and gentle, she does warm up.  She can do well with gentle kids who know how to properly interact with dogs.

Rosy's coat is relatively and surprisingly easy to maintain.  Her luxurious white coat sheds dirt quickly, does not mat, and requires minimal brushing (give her the once over daily) to keep looking sharp.  She will need her eyes and tear stains cleaned twice daily to help clear them up - a product of long-time neglect and poor nutrition that can improve with proper care.

Rosy is a most friendly and affectionate companion, that needs a little help.  On her medication - which is a pill daily in her food - she is able to focus, learn, and rest calmly.  She remains a very active, energetic affectionate girl, she is all those things - just a little less enthusiastically.

A Fenced Yard is required for Rosabelle.

She's going to make the right person a fantastic companion dog that will be loyal, loving, and fun.  If you think you have what it takes to give this girl the life she's been missing - apply to adopt!!

Rosabelle's companion, Roxanne (adopted) can also be seen on our website.
