Rowdy is a Golden Retriever/Collie mix.  He is around 7 years old and weighs about 70 pounds. 

His name is a bit of a misnomer as Rowdy is NOT rowdy.  Not.At.All.  In fact for several years now he has been quite sedentary and probably only gets rowdy in his dreams and has had more hours sleeping than playing and, well….being rowdy.  Rowdy has been the beloved companion of his human who is disabled, and because of his person’s health, Rowdy needs to find a new home. 

Rowdy is accustomed to taking himself out to potty through a doggie door into a fenced back yard. Like all of us, when we don’t get enough exercise, we tend to put on a few more pounds than we need and Rowdy has done that as he hasn’t gone on many walks.   He does however do nicely on leash and enjoys the sights and sounds of a leisurely stroll.  He is a big fan of car rides.

Rowdy has not been out and about much in recent years so his comfort zone will need to gradually be increased.  He did attend an adoption event at a local pet store recently and really enjoyed the attention. 

Here is the kind of home Rowdy is looking for. 

1. A not-rowdy home.  No chaos. No running screaming little kids or big ones either.  No crazy, young, playful dogs that will get in his face and insist he play.  Ain’t happening.   Calm, just calm, easy-going, quiet. Ahhhh.

2. A little exercise and mental stimulation.  Slow walks around the block so he can stop and smell the roses and anything else that he wants to sniff.  He is only 7 years old and needs a chance to experience some livin’!

3.  Some car rides. Going to the post office? Yeah! He’ll ride along. Drive up windows with diet dog biscuits, yes, please.

4. A friendly, laid-back canine companion would be OK too.  Rowdy has not been around cats that we know of, but He seems like He’d be OK with them.

5.  A home with patient and kind people that will appreciate a loyal companion who is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. 

Rowdy will make an awesome forever friend!
