Spot 12/24/11: The photo shows my son Richard with Oreo, we saved her from a puppy mill and do not know what kind of dog she is but we don't mind. She is dressed as Mrs. Claus. Rick my husband has Charlie (formerly Spot) and he is Santa. I thought you would like to see who adopted Charlie and know he is living the pampered life. I even have winter and fall coats for my dogs to keep them warm also. They love to be together and are really great watch dogs, especially Charlie he may be small but if he doesn't know you you will not get in the door until I tell him it's ok. Then he sits and watches them for a bit just to make sure... Both the dogs are definitely mamas babies. I work 3rd shift now and stay up on my days off to keep a sleep schedule, well the dogs stay up with me on the couch although at about 2 a.m. they fall asleep, but if I move they are looking to see what's going on. They are getting great care so let everyone know how much we enjoy Charlie and so does Oreo...you should see them play together...it's great. Sincerely, Amanda Hitchcock and Family
Schatzie Dear Haven to Home, I would like to Thank You for letting Carmen and Clark Dunn adopt me. I love my new home and my new family. I enjoy playing fetch in my back yard with my big sister, Daisy (Border Collie). Daisy is 13 and doesn't puppy play much but we both enjoy having each others company. I have a girlfriend, Zoey (Yorkie), who lives next door. She is only 6 months old so we puppy play in the back yard all the time. I get so excited when I see her. My parents and I go to the rail trail to socialize when it's not too hot. I am trying to learn not to chase the bikers. I get treats when I don't bark and try to chase them. At first I didn't like men and would bark at them when they came close to me. I've learned over time that they aren't so bad. If it's too hot to walk on the trail, I usually go to my grandparents to visit and socialize. I love going their and getting spoiled with treats. They babysit me if my parents are going to be gone for a while so I don't have to be alone for any length of time. Since I've come to live with my new family, I've learned to walk on a leash, go up and down steps, sit and lay down on command, and learn to play like a puppy. I LOVE TO PLAY. My parents play with me all the time. However, if they are busy, I play by myself in the hallway racing back and forth throwing the ball up and chasing it myself. I ALSO LOVE TO GIVE KISSES. I am constantly giving and receiving kisses from my parents. I love them very much and they love me very much. Mom and I keep each other company during the day. My parents and I usually settle down on the couch around 9pm. While watching TV, they give me belly rubs.. I sleep in my doggie bed during the night. However, when Dad gets up at 6am to go to work, Mom lets me sleep with her in the big bed a little while longer. I LOVE THE BIG BED. I'm always extremely full of kisses in the morning. Mom and I went to Petco on the first day home and got my name tag. I've been to the vet and got a good bill of health and just completed my application for dog tags. Once again, I'd like to thank Haven to Home and especially, Heather Mausteller, for finding me such a loving home. Thank you, JOEY and Family
Shianne Dear Haven to Home volunteers and staff, I have meant to write earlier, but we have been busy enjoying Maycie (formerly Shianne), who quickly has become a part of our family and our hearts. We have discovered some of the things she likes best (baby carrots for snacks, her squeaky bone) and some of the quirky things she does (falling asleep with her belly in the air, following the vacuum cleaner until Daddy goes over her fur with the brush attachment!). On another bright note, Maycie has slimmed down from 103 pounds (at adoption) to 95 pounds, from her daily walks and exercise. We bring her to the Susquehanna Trail Dog Training Club on Tuesday nights for extra training and socialization. She’s been a real sweetie! I hope these pics give you a sense of reward for the work you do. We had a great experience with Haven to Home, and have already recommended your organization to friends looking to adopt. Best wishes, and thank you again. We're so happy to be providing a new home for such a wonderful dog. Jen and Heath
