RJ is a medium-size shepherd mix who is around 30 pounds and about 10 months old.  He came to us after being passed from one owner to the next and then was locked in a shed because he had worms and the owner couldn’t afford to treat them.  He was relinquished to us, we took him to the vet, treated the worms, got his shots, and had him neutered.

RJ is very friendly with people, cats (that don't run and aren't afraid of his puppy energy), and other dogs. He wants to cuddle and be everyone's friend!  He is curious, smart, and is food motivated so he learns quickly.  He wants to be close to people, loves his chewies, and doesn’t even mind sharing them.    During a training session, he quickly got: Sit, Lay Down, Come Here, and Focus. He is a little sponge waiting to learn!

He is a little on the mouthy side and is learning manners about taking treats and how to play a bit nicer with his smaller canine friends.  He is not mean, he just has the drive to chase anything that runs and is a little rough in his puppy impulsiveness when he catches them.  He does OK on leash, but could use a little work to make him a nice walker.  A little work in the manners department so he doesn’t jump is also needed.   He is not 100% house trained, but figured out a doggie door quickly and should get the hang of it quickly with a consistent routine.
