Bernie is a 5 year old 30lb mixed breed rescued from the same chain we rescued another emaciated lab mix from almost 4 years ago. Bernie was not as thin as the other dog, but all his ribs are still showing and he needs to gain some weight. When rescued Bernie had a wall of fleas on his belly, but he could do nothing but try to give kisses and wag his tail a million miles a second when he was given a dog treat. When getting a bath to get rid of the fleas, he just laid his head on one of the bathers arms and relaxed as the years of dirt and grime, fleas and blood from the fleas went down the drain. He is currently staying in a kennel where he gets out and walked several times a day but is taken home for overnight visits with one of his walkers. We are working on housetraining and basic obedience commands. He has been fine with every dog he has been introduced to, and seems to be starting to get the concept of doggy play. Bernie is a very friendly dog ready for his forever home where he will only know love and kindness.
