Boo-Boo is a 14 year old shih-tzu whose owner died a few years ago. A relative took him in, but didn’t have time for him so a “free to good home” ad was placed in the newspaper. He was adopted as a companion to a younger house dog, but soon found himself tied to a dog house. This senior 13-pound lap dog spent this past winter on a chain living in a dog house. He was matted when Haven to Home took him in recently. When the one mat was removed, it was almost as big as his leg. It was thought he was deaf and blind, but the mats were so thick in front of his eyes, he likely couldn’t see well. Rescuers had rarely seen a dog this matted. He appears to have some hearing and vision and gets around very well. He is playful with other dogs and will dance on his back legs and paw the air like a little circus dog. The vet checked him over and pronounced him to be in good shape for a 14 year old with no noted health problems. He is going to have his teeth cleaned next week. He is good with other dogs and is enjoying being inside in a clean and comfortable environment. Boo-Boo is looking for a loving, forever, retirement home with a comfy lap to lay on and someone to take him on leisurely walks.
