Bear is a 4 year old lab/retriever/shepherd mix. He is mostly black, with a beautiful, well-kept soft coat and striking brown markings on his face and feet. Bear is housebroken. He is not crate trained because he is well-behaved; even when home alone for an 8 hour work day he does not get into trouble or make messes. He lives with cats and tries to play with them; they are a little less thrilled about that than he is, but he is a good boy and doesn't hurt them. Bear loves when the grandchildren come to visit and allows them to hug him and crawl on him. His faorite things are tug toys, car rides, and human affection. He thinks he's a lap dog and cuddles and gives hugs. He knows basic commands: sit, shake, down. Volunteers evaluated him with other dogs and he did well. He is pully on a leash, but did well with a halti. He allowed volunteers to put the halti leash on and to touch his face, ears and feet. Bear's family loves him, but because of their own personal issues, asked for help to find a new home for him. He will be neutered and completely vetted soon and then go to a Haven to Home foster family that will work on leash training with him. FOSTER UPDATE: Bear has recovered from his neuter surgery. He is doing great with the 2 big dogs in his foster home. His foster mom says, "he is so content and ready for a new home! He is a non-stop demand cuddler!"
