Rocky is an 18 month old Boxer or boxer mix. He is a happy energetic guy whose owners had to relinquish him because they are moving and can't take him along. Rocky is very sweet, friendly and intelligent with a willingness to please. He was evaluated by our trainer, Mark, who gave him a thumbs up and believes he has a lot of potential. Rocky's caretaker was given a training plan with 5 new skills to learn. Rocky learned all 5 skills within the first few days of training! The 5 training skills Rocky is mastering include: the food lure, the focus command, the sit command, touch, & the down command. He is also asked to sit before exiting/entering the house and before eating. He does not exit/enter/eat until he is given the release command "okay." These skills are very useful as they can be applied in daily life. For instance, barking at someone in another yard, or getting overly excited when he sees another animal. He is now walking daily on leash and enjoys his walks.
Rocky has never been well socialized with other animals but is very good with adults and children. He needs a patient leader who will provide him with consistent training so that he can become a well-balanced dog. He is willing to please and would make a faithful companion. At this time, he would probably be better as an only dog while he continues his training plan.
In his original home, Rocky was not crated and was not destructive. Stayed alone for up to 8 hours occasionally.
Rocky is UTD with vaccines and is neutered.
Rocky Needs a foster home or permanent home as soon as possible as his caretakers can only keep him short term.

We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.
