Do You Need a Doberman Like Ritz?

Meet Ritz – a stunning 4-year-old spayed female Doberman with a heart as big as her 93-pound frame. Raised on a farm where she spent her early years as a breeding dog, Ritz didn’t quite take to motherhood – so now she’s ready to start a new chapter as a beloved family member through H2H Rescue.

Ritz is what we lovingly call a "velcro" dog. She wants nothing more than to be near her person – whether it’s lying next to you on the couch, curling up at your feet, or nudging you with her nose for pets and attention. She needs to be with someone who’s home often and who enjoys constant canine companionship. If you’ve ever wished for a large lap dog, Ritz might be your perfect match.

When it comes to other dogs, Ritz is polite but indifferent. Her real interest lies in her human companions, not her canine peers. She’s a true Doberman at heart – loyal, loving, and naturally protective. She may alert you with a growl or bark if she hears something outside or a visitor at the door, but she’s all tail wags and warm welcomes once they’re inside.

Ritz isn’t overly vocal, but she will speak up now and then – especially if she thinks it might earn her a treat. Speaking of treats... Ritz loves her food. She’s currently a little on the chubby side and could benefit from shedding about 5-10 pounds with some gentle activity and portion control.

Because Ritz spent her entire life on a farm, she’s still learning about the wider world. She knows her name, comes when called, and prefers to stay close to her people. Walks and car rides are a new experience for her – she doesn't pull on leash, but she's still figuring out what to do. Car rides require a bit of effort, as she needs to be lifted in and safely secured – otherwise, she’ll do her best to climb into your lap.

Ritz is not fearful or reactive, just unfamiliar with many everyday sights and sounds. She needs a home that will be patient, gentle, and take things at her pace as she discovers life beyond the farm.

She’s currently in a loving foster home in the Lewisburg, PA, area where she’s starting to gain confidence and experience. She's up to date on vaccinations, recently spayed, and has had her nails trimmed. Ritz is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. She’s healthy – and her heart, in every sense, is in the right place.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will stick by your side no matter what – Ritz might just be your girl.
