 ONE HANDSOME FELLA!

This is one good looking young boxer boy!  He is not yet two years old so still a baby.  He is a beautiful dark fawn with gorgeous white flashy markings.  He wears white knee socks on the front legs and shorter white bobby socks on his hind legs with all four being perfectly matched.   He has a white blaze up his face and head and a pretty little white “beauty mark” on his neck.  His soulful black eyes are surrounded with a black mask.  To top it all off he has a small white tip on his tail.  Yes, you did read that right.   Bentley has his ears (floppy) and tail (long) still intact and he wears them both to perfection!  His tail wags like crazy when I return.  Oh, and did I mention he has the softest, most kissable floppy lips!

He is being re-homed through no fault of his own.  He has been one lucky boy the first year and a half of life living with a family that adores him and is very sad to make this tough-love decision to let him move on for his well-being. He was raised with children where he was the only 4-legged child.   Here he has integrated quickly and easily with my 7 pack of dogs which includes old, young, male, female, big, small and handicapped (blind 15-year-old).  Yes, he was shocked to discover that this new home also had a bird in it (Amazon Parrot) but just like the rabbit in his original home he learned to ignore it.

He is an equal opportunity lover watching news with my husband or reality TV with me.  He is a great walker with some pulling, loves a trip in the car and quickly learned to use our doggie door to let himself in or out where he enjoys our fenced in backyard.  He HATES his crate and will fight me tooth and nail if I need to use it. In his original home, he was baby gated. We have done some work with treats and he is much better about getting into his crate though he still hates it.   He also showed a bit of a nasty side when he was left at a strange vet to be neutered.  My husband says he was well within his rights with that one.  He did mark when he first arrived but this is a rescue house where many dogs have passed through and left their calling cards.  With verbal corrections, the use of a belly band and learning to use the doggie door he quickly understood that it was unacceptable behavior.  He is now being left free in the house with my 2 other big dogs to “guard the fort” when we go out.  Finally, he is a wonderful snuggle bug whether it be as your bed buddy, couch potato or even lap dog!

***As I have continued to foster and get to know this boy I have decided that even though Bentley was raised with kids he should not be a candidate for a home with young children.  If you have assertive children that are older (double digit…10 or up) I am willing to consider your application after we have a conversation.  With my younger grandsons, he was constantly trying to dominate them by jumping up on his hind legs on them or on top of them if they were sitting down.

I have been able to take him into Pet Smart and Michaels where he met people and was friendly.   My son-in-law and sister had also been able to meet him in the house without incident. He would enjoy a fenced in yard and a similar sized and a similar aged dog buddy.   These are not bottom lines but on my wish list for him.

We  adore this boy and I will be happy to answer any questions that you have at margaretwilliamsharvey@gmail.com.  He comes with toys, bowls and a nice metal crate if needed.  He is chipped, up to date on vaccines, flea and heart worm treatments and is neutered so he is ready to begin the next chapter of his life.

If you think that might be with you and would like to be considered, please apply at Haven to Home Dog Rescue.  We will be looking for the perfect fit for Bentley.  Applications to adopt can be submitted through this website.
