Rocky is a 1-year old full-size/standard Golden Doodle. He weighs approximately 60 lbs.
Rocky is very sweet, loving dog. He wants to please you, he really does. Unfortunately, he has learned absolutely nothing in the way of impulsivity control. He's more meek and mild than wild and crazy once you get to know him. His tail is almost always wagging, and he tries hard to do what is asked of him. He is new to rescue, so we still have a lot to learn about who he truly will be once all this newness becomes familiar. What we do know, is Rocky doesn't like containment and he hasn't learned to be alone well yet. We understand that never leaving your dog alone is unrealistic, so we are looking for someone who is:
Rocky is currently living with other dogs, and his social skills are slowly improving. He can be overbearing, and needs patient doggy friends. Rocky wants to play - but he doesn't know many of the games (he's great at that humping one, though) so that will take time and patience on both the owners and any other resident animal's part. He's learning to play with the resident dogs more appropriately and things improve every day.
Since Rocky's been in foster care, his behavior has improved quite a bit. He's less anxious, more affectionate, calmer, and less impulsive. If left alone, Rocky will only sometimes bark and his efforts to escape his containment have become very rare. He will even respect a baby gate now, waiting on one side to be let out instead of jumping right over it. Rocky has been slowly adjusting to his current containment situation, and these things take time - but with patience, consistency, and training - Rocky is going to be an outstanding family dog.
Rocky is learning to ignore the cats in his foster home and might get the opportunity to try to interact with one soon, but for now we are guessing that he's probably a 'no cats' kinda guy.
When he's not alone, he's never destructive. This morning he played with one squeaky ball all morning, brought it to his foster several times to ask that it be tossed to him, and when the other dogs stole it, Rocky waited patiently to see if he could have it back. His housebreaking has been perfect. He is friendly, and he's lived with small children. He doesn't do too bad on a leash. He comes whenever he is called, and can sitting politely for feedings and petting. He is quiet at night, can use a dog door, and sleeps calmly on a dog bed on the floor if he can be near you. Rocky wants to please you, he wants to learn - but he needs a patient, educator - as is the case with most rescues. Do you have the time/patience/place for this guy??
