Rory was rescued by his present family because his previous owner kept him outside and then was going to take him to the SPCA. He is about 5 years old, around 54 pounds, and a Cattle Dog, Border Collie, herding breed kind of guy. His present situation, where he has been for about 6 months, has multiple small children and another on the way. It’s a very busy household and the family realizes it’s not the best situation for Rory. He is good with the kids in the house, but when they get noisy and rambunctious Rory goes to his quiet place. He seems to be a man’s dog, following the man of the house everywhere. Rory is not a fan of being crated, but is happy if gated in the kitchen when home alone. He is house trained, walks well on leash, and enjoys car rides. He takes treats very gently. When our volunteer met him, he was reserved at first. Not shy or barky, just needed some time to make up and then when he decided she was a friend, stayed around for attention, pets and back rubs, nudging for more if she stopped. The family reports that he enjoys time outside in the fenced yard, and even if the gate is left open, he sticks around. Rory is a very sweet boy. He will be a very loyal companion and is looking for someone to follow around. Rory would enjoy a quieter home without a lot of children or cats. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
